Mangaluru: Yenepoya University organises organ donation awareness programme

Mangaluru, Sep 9: Yenepoya University organised an organ donation awareness programme at its campus on Friday, September 8.

The programme was inaugurated by Fr Davis Chiramel, Chairman of Kidney Foundation of India. He spoke on the importance of organ donation especially in today’s society, and also taught on how to live a selfless life.



Presiding over the programme, Chancellor of Yenepoya University, Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi said that a person should not live for oneself but for others too.

Police officer N S Shruthi from Anti Corruption Bureau spoke on the legal formalities needed for organ donation.

A handing over the pledge card ceremony was held. Fr Davis Chiramel handed over the pledge card and organ donar card to Dr Mujeeburahiman, HOD Urology, Dr Santhosh Pai, HOD Nephrology and Dr Nishchith D’Souza, Associate Professor of Urology, Yenepoya Medical College and Hospital.

Pandit Resorts and Spa Promoter Lal Goel, Registrar of Yenepoya University Dr G Sreekumar Menon, Coordinator Transplant Robotics Nelvin Nelson also spoke on the occasion. Patients were also felicitated.

    Organ donation consent is a nice arrangement India could implement as an optional choice for every human being in India, before death or even after death. So many organs could be utilized for purpose of research and also for purpose of donating to others who might find a good use as and when required.

    Donating any part of the human body can be so useful in a country such as India. The donation should not be ever practiced as a compulsory mandate, or for any financial reward.

    India is a researchful country for medical segment and therefore donation of any human parts can be of good use for many others who might have a genuine need during their life time.
