Puttur, Sep 9: Check posts, erected in Puttur in connection with ‘Mangaluru Chalo’ on September 7, have collected a fine of Rs 1. 91 lac.
Police had laid check posts in Kemmai, Parladka, Mukve and Kabaka to prevent the ‘Mangaluru Chalo’ bike rally. They checked all the vehicles while keeping an eye specifically on bikes. The true picture of vehicles violating rules came to light during the inspection.
945 cases were registered in four check posts erected under the leadership of inspector Mahesh Prasad and Rs 1, 91,300 were collected as fine.
Cases of travelling without Helmet were 422, dangerous driving cases were 99, driving without driving licence were 72, absence of seat belts were 16, driving without insurance were 48, driving without uniform were 69 and other violations were 219.
Highest fine of Rs 1, 29,100 was collected at Kemmai lead by sub-inspector Omana where 579 cases were registered.
205 cases were booked and Rs 35,100 was collected in Kabaka lead by sub-inspector Jagadish Reddy. Sub-inspector Venkatesh Bhat led check post at Parladka registered 92 cases and collected Rs 15,100 as fine and the check post in Mukve in the leadership of officer Ratan Kumar collected Rs 12,000 from 69 cases.
