Udupi: 35-year-old Basheer from Sasthan dies in accident in Saudi Arabia

Udupi, Sep 5: A man hailing from Sasthan here died in a tragic accident in Saudi Arabia on Monday September 4.

Basheer (35), a native of Sasthan, died in the accident that occured near Tabuk in northwestern Saudi Arabia.

A group of five persons from Sasthan, including Basheer and a woman, were travelling by car from Jeddah to a historical site for a picnic on account of Bakrid holidays.

When they reached near Tabuk, another car which was approaching from the opposite end suffered a tyre burst and rammed into their vehicle. The car then burst into flames and was completely charred.

Another woman who was involved in the accident also passed away, sources said. She was from Kerala, it is learnt.

Rafiq Khan, Rashid Khan and Shahnawaz who were with Basheer in the vehicle escaped with minor injuries and have been admitted to King Fahd hospital.

Basheer was living in Jeddah for the past eight years and had been to his hometown less than one year ago on vacation.

Family sources said that the final rites will be held in Jeddah.
