Mangaluru, Sep 5: "Denying the permission for 'Mangaluru Chalo' Siddaramaiah showed his mentality against democracy. He is not Sidda Rama but ‘Siddha-Ravana'. People of Karnataka especially the members and leaders of BJP experiencing his 'Ravana' rule. He and district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai have given strict order to district administration and police to crush the 'Mangaluru Chalo' rally. But any cost we are going forward on our planned programme," said Sanjeev Matandur, BJP Dakshina Kannada district president.
Addressing the media persons here on Tuesday September 5, he said" We are not going to cancel the rally scheduled on September 7. Around ten thousand of our members from our district itself will take part in this rally. Besides this, members from other districts also will join,” he added.
“BJP is a national party and functions under guidelines of laws of the country. The rally is a political activity and we have all rights to do it in a democratic setup. With the demand of ban on PFI, SDPI and KFD and the resignation of Ramanath Rai, we are organizing this rally. It will be a peaceful rally. Government should give all type of protection for us,” he said.
“With the help of police today Siddaramaiah got arrested our leaders like Ashok and Shobha Karandlaje and members. We are condemning this act. It shows how he feared BJP and our leaders," he concluded.
Former MLC Monappa Bhandary said, "Government is testing our members’ patience. Agitations and rally are not new for us. Since Jana Sangha period we are doing these things. We do not care any threats by the government and police as we are working in a republic country and not doing anything against the peace and communal harmony. We will gather in Mangaluru peacefully as planned. The government should be held responsible If anything goes wrong.”
BJP district committee members and Yuva Morcha leaders were present.
