Karkala, Sep 1: The main accused in a private bus damage incident near Hosmar petrol bunk was recently arrested at the rural police station here.
The said accused, Shobith, allegedly hurled death threats at the driver and conductor.
The incident had happened at about 11 am on August 24. Sundari (49), a passenger travelling in KA 19 AB2393 bus plying from Naravi to Moodbidri accidentally fell onto the road and succumbed to injuries. Following which, a group of seven, reportedly led by Shobith, came to the spot after about 15 minutes and threatened to kill driver Siraj and conductor Sudhaker who were made to flee the scene. The group then smashed the bus glass and destroyed other valuable parts of the bus.
Bus driver Siraj complained to Karkala rural police station about incurring a loss of Rs two lac due to the vandalism.
