Bengaluru, Aug 31: “I also have enough weapons with me. I know what weapons to use and when,” Energy minister D k Shivakumar strongly reacted after the Income Tax (I-T) department on Wednesday raided the residence of Karnataka Congress Secretary Vijaya Mulgund.
Shivakumar was speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, August 30.
Mulgund is known to be a close aide of Shivakumar, and is said to have assisted Shivakumar in hosting the Congress MLAs from Gujarat in a Bengaluru resort recently.
“I do not have any objections on I-T raids per se. But only targeting Congress leaders is wrong. I will use the right weapon at appropriate time,” he added.
“Vijaya Mulgund was growing stronger politically. He also played a crucial role in accommodating MLAs from Gujarat. Because of this reason, I-T officials decided to target him,” he said.
In a separate interaction with media, chief minister Siddaramaiah said that BJP is trying to harass Congress leaders by conducting I-T raids on them. “BJP leaders have political vendetta here. There is an attempt to bring down the morale in Congress leaders during the next Assembly elections. But I want to state here that BJP will fail in its mission. Congress leaders will not lose their confidence,” he said.
