Mangaluru, Aug 29: Policemen attached to Konaje station here have arrested a Nepali youth. He has been accused of raping a minor girl, who is also of Nepalese origin. The accused has been booked under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
The accused has been identified as Kumma Singh (22), who runs a fast food joint at Thokkottu and stays at Deralakatte. During the last six months, he is believed to have raped the minor girl repeatedly.
In the rented accommodation at Deralakatte, three Nepali families live. The girl resides with her parents while Kumma Singh and his brother also stay in the same house. It is said that Kumma Singh, using the opportunity when there was no one at home, frequently raped the girl. After coming to know that the girl had become pregnant, Kumma Singh had gone into hiding.
On the basis of complaint made by the girl's parents, Konaje police registered a case. Under the guidance of Konaje in-charge police inspector, K M Shariff, sub-inspector, Sukumar and other staff succeeded in arresting the accused.
