Moodbidri, Aug 26: Catholic Sabha Moodbidri deanery organized Religious-Laity conference as part of their silver jubilee programme at Moodbidri church hall on Friday, August 25.
The programme began with adoration of Holy Sacrament.
Msgr Edwin Pinto, founder of Mount Rosary Charitable Institutions, Alangar; Sr Priscilla D'Mello, superior general of Congregation of Helpers of Mount Rosary; Fr Walter D'Mello, judicial vicar of Mangalore Diocese; George Castelino, national award winning teacher; Fr Paul Sequeira, CS Moodbidri, deanery spiritual director; Anil Lobo, president, CS Central Committee; Herald Rego, president, CS deanery and Melwyn D’Costa, immediate past president, CS Deanery were present on the dais.
Msgr Edwin Pinto inaugurated the programme. In his message, he highlighted the situation in 1980s which forced Catholics to unite one roof to address their problems. He asked Catholic Sabha members to work selflessly for the society reflecting Christian values in their life.
One of the resource persons, Fr Walter D'Mello, explained the need of Catholic Sabha and stressed on unity among Religious and Laity to address fresh challenges arising in the current scenario.
The other resource person George Castelino, Nakre, focused on the initial days of formation of Catholic Sabha and the path travelled by it all through these years. He advised the CS members to keep them updated of latest developments.
There was a live discussion focusing challenges faced by Catholic Sabha which was moderated by Fr Paul Sequiera. Fr Paul in his message lauded the projects undertaken by Catholic Sabha in its silver jubilee year.
The parish priests of all parish units were honored on this occasion for their whole-hearted co-operation in ensuring success of Catholic Sabha. Vice-presidents, superiors of religious houses were also honored for their selfless service to the society.
CS Central Committee president Anil Lobo in his message appreciated the unique initiatives of Moodbidri deanery in its silver jubilee year.
CS deanery president Herald Rego delivered presidential address and thanked all those who worked hard for the success of silver jubilee programmes.
Earlier, Silver Jubilee Committee convener Jerald D'Costa with an apt introductory note, extended a warm welcome the guests and the gathering.
Valerian Moras Taccode beautifully compered the programme whereas Melwyn D’Costa Gantalkatte delivered the vote of thanks.
