Mangaluru, Aug 20: William Lobo, who allegedly murdered his wife Blossom on Friday night, was harassing his wife repeatedly in the recent past, it is gathered.
Both of them hailed from Siddapur in Kodagu district and got married 5 years back. Blossom worked for a software company in Mysuru earlier and she was offered a job in Mangaluru two years back. She shifted to Mangaluru and started staying in a rented house in Kottara Chowki with her son, who is 4 years old now.
William, who was an auto rickshaw driver before marriage, started working as a taxi driver later. Mostly he worked from Bengaluru and would come to Mangaluru during weekends. Whenever he came, he allegedly harassed Blossom and demanded money from her. He always asked her many questions and had doubt that she had affair with an unknown person.
William came home 4 days before the murder and took their son to Bengaluru and kept him at his brother’s house. On Friday night he came suddenly and knocked on the door. Blossom who was alone at home opened the door and William had an argument with her.
It is said that Blossom asked him to bring their son back home to Mangaluru. At that time William assaulted her brutally which resulted in her death, it is said.
William had come to Mangaluru with the intention of killing Blossom. He had reportedly told the auto rickshaw driver to wait for him while he killed his wife, probably so he could run away from Mangaluru after the murder. But when he saw heavy presence of police personnel around Kottara Chowki, he thought they must have come after they heard Blossom shouting for help. He decided to surrender to the police then and asked the auto driver to take him to Urwa police station and surrendered himself.
Blossom had managed to phone her mother when she was being assaulted. Worried mother had left for Mangaluru without knowing her daughter would be dead in few minutes.
