Udupi, Aug 18: The district superintendent of police (SP), who wants to have dialogue directly with the common people of the district and exchange ideas and issues with them, will be taking part in direct phone-in programme begin from Saturday August 19 in the district police office here.
Through a release from his office, the SP Dr Sanjeev Patil has invited people to convey information about suggestions, advice or views towards enabling the police personnel of the district to function in a more people-friendly manner. The general public are also free to provide details about their petitions, cases etc. People can also express their appreciation about the functioning of police personnel in their area, or point out mistakes if any in the discharge of duties by police personnel.
This programme can also be made use of to provide information about illegal activities if any happening in the area where the callers live, and any information which helps police to stop such activities.
The release has assured the people that the identities of callers will be kept strictly confidential. Timing of the programme would be from 10 am to 11 am on Saturday August 19. People can call telephone no: 0820-2534777 to convey information, suggestion or complaint.
It may be mentioned here that SP Sanjeev Patil, when he served as DCP in Mangaluru, was an active participant in the phone-in programme launched by the Mangaluru police commissionerate during his tenure.
