Karkala, Jul 21: Bajrang Dal activists assaulted two men who were transporting two buffaloes at Jarigekatte near Belman on Thursday, July 20.
Rajesh Mendonca and Sadhu Poojary were transporting the buffaloes in a vehicle. They were stopped at Jarigekatte by two Bajrang Dal activists. The duo thrashed the occupants of the vehicle for carrying buffaloes.
Sadhu Poojary managed to escape. But Rajesh Mendonca was severely assaulted and left on the road.
The police arrived at the spot after some time upon hearing the news and admitted Rajesh Mendonca to a hospital.
The suspects, Sandeep and Rajesh, are absconding.
Some people said that vehicle carrying buffaloes hit a car at Nitte and fled. The occupants of the car informed their friends in Jarigekatte and the Bajrang Dal activists stopped the victims and thrashed them.
The police have recorded a statement from Mendonca.
A case stands registered at Karkala Rural police station.
