Mangaluru, Jun 22: Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza took charge as director of St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor,
The Bishop of Mangaluru Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza made this appointment recently.
Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza takes over the responsibility from the outgoing director Fr Joseph J Lobo, who served the institution as Director from 2012 to 2017 with passion and dedication. Under his leadership, the institution witnessed transformational growth to become one of the foremost educational institutions in the region. Fr Lobo will be on study leave pursuing studies and pastoral ministry in United States. Fr Prakash D’Souza joined SJEC on May 22 as the director designate. Following a month-long understudy, Fr Prakash took over the full charge as director on June 22 in an installation ceremony held in the St Pio Chapel of the College.
A prayer service on the occasion was conducted by the representative of Bishop and Dean of the Vicariate, Fr Victor Machado.
Fr Prakash hails from Agrar near Bantwal was ordained as a priest in 1997. He has served as an assistant parish in Bendur and as a parish priest at Narampady. Fr Prakash has served Father Muller Charitable Institutions as assistant director from 2003, following which in 2008 he was appointed as administrator of Father Muller Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital. Fr Prakash has also served as principal of St Joseph College – Jeppu for three years. He was on study leave for the past one year at St Rita Church, Cascia.Fr Prakash holds a diploma in Human Resource and Management and Post Graduate Degrees in English and counselling.
Fr Victor Machado, parish priest of Kulshekar church led the installation prayer service.
In his speech Fr Wilfred Prakash Said “It is my pleasure to serve this engineering college which is reputed in national level. The college stands in heights by the hard and dedicated work of Fr Joseph. He is role model for me in this new task. It is God’s plan to serve this institution. I promise you all that will do my best to the college with your prayers.”
Outgoing rector Fr Joseph said “The College has got a new and energetic rector. The name Prakash means the Light. I wish the college all success under his leadership. And I thank all the administration, staff and students for their support during my tenure.”
