Mangaluru, Jun 21: "Life is a boon from the God. We can earn the grace of the Lord when we use our lives for serving others and other noble purposes," said Bishop of the local diocese, Dr Aloysius Paul 'Souza.
He was speaking at a programme after the thanksgiving Mass and congratulatory function organized in his honour on the occasion of attaining 76 years of age, at St Francis Xavier Church, Bejai in the city on Wednesday June 21.
The Bishop called upon parents to keep their children educated about the love of the Lord and life values, so that they grow into noble citizens of the country.
Priest of Bejai church, Fr Wilson D'Souza, who welcomed the Bishop, offered a garland and presented memento on behalf of the church and all the priests. Vice president of the church, Stany Vas, read out the citation. Secretary, Cony Saldanha, presented the programme and proposed vote of thanks.
Vicar general of the diocese Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, parish priest of Rosario Cathedral Fr J B Crasta, episcopal vicar for the religious Fr Pius James D'Souza, assistant priest of Bijai church Fr Rohan Lobo, principal of Lourdes College Fr Robert D'Souza, pastoral parishad secretary of the diocese M P Norohna, president of Catholic Sabha Anil Lobo, director of Father Muller group of institutions Fr Richard Coelho and others were present.
On this occasion, priests of various churches in and around the city, nuns, and members of Catholic community took part in the function and extended birthday greetings to the Bishop.
