Mangaluru, Jun 20: In a new initiative to curb traffic violations, the city police on Tuesday June 20 inaugurated a Traffic Automation Centre and handheld devices to enable spot fines at the traffic east police station here.
DCP Shantharaju and DCP Hanumantraja inaugurated the centre and the devices.
Explaining the functioning of the centre, DCP Shantharaju said, "The entire city is now covered by CCTV cameras. Violators cannot escape from the law. This centre is a part of MTrack 2 project which is being implemented in every district.
"We have fixed 75 cameras in 30 different spots in the city. The 16 cameras which were provided by the government earlier are also connected to this centre. Once violation is confirmed, notice will be issued from the centre. There also 16 handheld devices which the traffic personnel will use in prime locations. Officers can send details of violators to the control room through these devices. Besides this, the past track record will also available in these devices," he said.
The police, on finding a violation, will go through the details of the RC owner and send him a post with details of the violation and fine. Fines are to be paid in the police stations.
