Panaji, Jun 16: A call given by Sadhvi Saraswati, who happens to be a fire brand preacher from Madhya Pradesh, to hang people consuming beef publicly, has drawn flak. The call was given by the Sadhvi at the All India sixth Hindu convention under way at Ramanathi temple in the state.
Congress party, which has expressed strong resentment at this utterance, has urged the Goa government headed by BJP to register first information report against her and take Sadhvi Saraswati into custody.
Sadhvi Saraswati, who happens to be the president of Sanatan Dharma Prachar Seva Samiti at Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh, had also compared eating of beef to consuming flesh of one's own mother. "Those who resort to eat beef and feel take pride in it as a matter of status or prestige should feel like eating up their own mothers. I request the union government to hang such people in public. Only if such harsh steps of taken, then people will begin to understand that protecting cows is their duty," she is said to have declared.
She had also advised Hindus to keep arms in their houses for self protection failing which their survival will be at risk in the coming days.
Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member, Shantaram Naik, said that he had raised this topic at the meeting of advisory committee on home affairs that had met at New Delhi on Thursday June 15, which was chaired by home minister, Rajnath Singh. Naik has also urged Manohar Parrikar, chief minister of Goa, who also has the home ministry under him, to take the above statement seriously and take strong steps against Sadhvi Saraswati.
