Bantwal, May 2: Underworld fugitive, Vicky Shetty, claimed that he had no role to play in the murder of Karopadi gram panchayat vice president, Abdul Jaleel Karopadi. Dismissing rumours which link him with this murder, he asserted that this murder did not have political overtones.
A person who claimed himself to be Vicky Shetty called the media houses on Monday May 1 to reiterate that he has nothing to do with this murder and wondered about his name having been dragged into this issue. He pointed out that the process of electing vice president of Karopadi gram panchayat had been carried out two years back, and reasoned that no one would do something about it after lapse such a long period.
Abdul Jaleel Karopadi
The view that this murder was not carried out due to any political wrangles also has been gaining ground in Karopadi and neighbouring villages. During the election to the post of the vice president, A Abdul Jaleel Karopadi had filed nomination to the post. As minister, B Ramanath Rai, had conveyed his wish that no one else should file nomination for the post, it is said none among the other party activists filed nomination for the post on behalf of Congress party. Dinesh Shetty Patla therefore neither eyed for the post nor filed nomination, local people have been pointing out.
