Mangaluru, Mar 10: One of Bollywood's top music composers-singers, Salim-Sulaiman brothers, are all set to captivate the audience of Mangaluru with their live performance as part of the Imperial Blue Superhit Nights Season 3 at Nehru Maidan here on Friday March 10 from 7 pm.
Addressing mediapersons at Hotel Taj Gateway, Salim, who is also a singer, said, "We are so happy and satified to be associates with Imperial Blue as it supports music and helps us connect with music lovers. We have always loved to conduct concerts at places like Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Lucknow and Mangaluru as these places do not witness live concerts often. Music lovers love concerts and have constantly supported us over the years, and this concert has given us the opportunity to connect with the people."
His brother Sulaiman said, "We have composed a lot of music and performed together in the past 25 years. A concert is all of reflection of ourselves and our journey. We have sung songs of different genres, be it happiness, sadness and entertainment and people have enjoyed most of it. During this concert we will pay tribute to yesteryears artistes. This concert will be such that people will never forget."
Salim also said, "This is our third visit here. Earlier we performed at Manipal, and at NIT-K which was a memorable, as I was amazed to see the passion of people towards music during the concert at NIT-K. The audience was singing along with me to the track 'Kurbaan hua'. We have also composed music for social causes, such as for Prime Minister's Jan Dhan Yojana, Mudra Yojana, Swacch Bharath and we do lot of work at the PMO as Modiji has shown keen interest in this project."
When asked about the Kannada film industry, Salim said, "We will be grateful if we both of us get a chance to sing in a Kannada movie. We have done a Telugu and a Gujarati movie and we would like to extend our contribution to Kannada as well."
On old songs being remixed, Salim said, "Rapping and remixing of old songs has become a trend. Sometimes it depends on the movie, whether to have rap or remix song in it. We are composing a song for a film "Poorna" based on a real story of a 13-year-old-girl who was the first girl to climb the Mount Everest and no one knows about it. Songs in it are all original."
When asked about judging a reality show, Salim said, "It is really good to judge a reality show which gives platform to new comers to explore their talents, and no doubt our country has so much talent. Reality shows open the doors for such newcomers."
Asked about young aspiring singer Suhana Syed who is being trolled in social media for singing devotional songs, Salim said, "Music has no religion as even we have sung several bhajans, devotional songs. If Suhana likes singing such songs she is free to do it. It is unfortunate that people are opposing her."
During the concert, Salim-Sulaiman, along with a group of skillful musicians will bring alive some of their notable and well acclaimed songs on stage including "Aye Khuda", "Haule Haule", "Shukran Allah", "Ainvayi Ainvayi" and Bang Bang. Promising to hit all the right chords with their fans, the celebrated artistes will ensure that the audience continues to sway their songs till the end of the show.
