According to researchers at Cardiff University, post-Christmas blues, failure to keep New Year's resolutions, debts and bad weather all combine to make the Monday of the last full week in January a day no one should look forward to. Worst-hit by the gloom surrounding them will be the ones who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, a condition brought on by a lack of sunlight.

Up to 85 per cent of Seasonal Affective Disorder cases can be improved by using light therapy that wakes you naturally and promotes that 'get up and go' feeling," the Mirror quoted light therapy expert Carol Barksfield, as saying.
Human behaviour specialist Mike Finnigan urges positive thinking to get through the day. "Smile at everyone, give up your seat on the bus or do something small that will make someone's day," he said.
