Udupi: Account loopholes discussed during CMC meeting

Udupi, Sep 29: Senior opposition leader M R Pai and Dinakar Shetty Herga raised the issue of account loopholes during the general body meeting of City Municipality Council, Udupi here on Thursday, September 29 at Satymurthy auditorium.

“It is our duty to pay taxes to the government on right time. Every calculation of finance should be maintained in balance sheet. The expiry date of payment is closed in March, but it is not renewed till date,” said M R Pai.

Replying to him, commissioner Manjunathayya said, “We have paid required amount to government through SES. Udupi CMC secured first place in the state for its efficient service.”

Accountant Superintendent Gayathri clarified about account details on the occasion and said, “Financial audit and statutory audit are closed in 2010-11. Financial audit was commissioned by the government. The audit did not happen in 2011 and it was all done through charted accountant. Udupi CMC has kept its SES account clear. It is also maintaining stock registration and uploading everything in website.”

Road Construction

Opposition party leaders objected to work on package based by adopting 4-5 wards at a time. “If they do this, it would cause irregularities while implementing the project,” opposition said.

The pending works will be finished soon assured an official.

Bhandarkar demanded to submit an appeal to SP on clearing the parking places on highways during the meeting.

Aggrieved by the incomplete work, Prashanth Amin questioned engineer Shashidhar Hegde and asked how long he will take to complete the work.

Clarifying his stand, engineer Hegde said, “Many works such as installation will be done at the earliest. The pending proposals will get completed soon.”

CMC president Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje and vice president Sandhya Thilakraj were present.
