Mangaluru, Sep 24: KPCC’s minority cell president Syed Ahmed held a press meet here at Eden garden on Saturday September 24 and informed that they visited slain Congress leader Ismail Bellare’s family members.
“Yesterday a Congress leader Ismail Bellare was murders and thus I had come to Mangaluru to meet his family. I strongly condemn the incident. We have already spoken to the SP and home minister and urged them to take swift and severe action against the culprits.”
“In the second week of October, we would be conducting an oath taking ceremony of district president of minority wing here in Mangaluru. November 19 is our former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's birth anniversary, on this occasion a special programme will be conducted by the minority wing in every district across the state.”
“People of Mangaluru are educated and there are many educational institutions here. Despite this there is environment of fear. To promote peace and communal harmony, a programme will be organised by taking leaders of all communities into confidence.”
“We are also planning to organize a job fair here in Mangaluru as we had organised in Bengaluru. This would be organized under minority cell banner but this is not confined only to minorities. Congress party wants to send out a clear message that we stand by people of all the communities. Our slogan is harmony in society and we work for the betterment of the society irrespective of caste or religion. Earlier, there were only Muslims and Christians in minority cell but now we also have Jains, Buddhist and Sikhs in minority cell.”
Congress leaders Melvyn D'souza, Saleem Ullal, Faaruq and others were present.
