Mangaluru, Sep 17: World Alzheimer's Month was inaugurated in a great way at Kadri Park on September 1. There was a blend of elders and youth took place. Hundreds of seniors and students from medical, physiotherapy, general as well as from Nitte University, Manipal, KMC, St Aloysius, A J Hospital, Fr Muller, Yenepoya, St Agnes, Canara, Ramakrishna, Roshini Nilaya and a huge gathering of seniors from around twenty organisations attended in colorful uniforms. Red and white was the color of Alzheimer's Dementia worn on many.
The police commissioner Chandra Sekar IPS and captain Ganesh Karnik were in praise of the efforts of PAGE. The assembled seniors and students walked around the park. The seniors formed groups and sang songs and celebrated the get-together. BP blood pressure check was carried out on the sidelines by Octaplus Medicare Company.

Jerardin D'Souza- founder- MAA- Mangalore Alzheimer's Association delivered talks on Alzheimer's at Roshni Nilaya to the MSW students on September 3 as well as to senior citizens at Jeppu. Jerardin was on Spandana TV on Prime Time with Dr Prabha Adhikari on September 1. Jerardin D'Souza also addressed another Spandana health camp programme on Saturday 10. On BIG FM Radio, he created awareness of Alzheimer's.
Lidwin Lobo, a social scientist addressed Ganapathy College, St Agnes Special School, auto rickshaw drivers, policemen, senior citizens, during the month's programmes.
Dr Prabha Adhikari gave talks at A J Medical College, Vidyadahini High School, Surathkal, Yenepoya Medical College with the help of PPT.
'World Alzheimer's Day' will be observed on September 21 at 9 am at Town Hall. Dignitaries, minister U T Khader and others will be present.
Free BP checks, sugar checks and memory tests will be conducted.
A huge gathering of seniors and youth will assemble and all organizations including Lions District 317D will be in full attendance.
