Mangaluru, Sep 6: Kavita Trust in association with Konkani Natak Sabha organized Konkani poetry recitation competition at Don Bosco Hall on Sunday September 4.
The competition was held in three categories- below 15 years, 15 to 30 years and above 30 years.
In the below 15 years category, 13 participants took part in the competition.
Aldon Vinoy D’Souza of Bajpe parish bagged the first prize, Austin D’Cunha of Bejai parish bagged the second prize and Lion Alison D’Souza of Bejai parish bagged the third prize in the category of below 15 years.
These winners along with Wencita Dias, Angelore, Nishel Flora DAlmeida, Kulshekar and Ashton Mascarenhas, Bajjodi were qualified for the finals of Nelson and Lavina Rodricks, Cha Fra Decosta memorial All Karnataka Konkani poetry reciting competition to be held on November 6.
As many as 13 participants took part in the 15 to 30 years category.
Amline D’Souza of Angelore parish bagged the first prize, Nilisha Angeline D’Souza of Bejai parish bagged the second prize and Preethi Martha D’Souza of Nirkan parish bagged the third prize respectively.
These winners along with Shweta M Pai, Canara College, Adline DSouza, Angelore and Fevisha Fernandes, Bajjodi were qualified for the finals of Rohan and Lavita Monteiro, All India Konkani Poetry reciting competition to be held on November 6 at the World Konkani Centre during the Sahitya Samaroh.
In the above 30 years category, 15 competitors took part in the competition.
Irene Pinto of Bajjodi parish bagged the first prize, Adellaide D’Sa of Bejai Parish bagged second prize and Santhosh Veigas of Bajjodi parish bagged the third prize.
Kavita Trust distributed certificates and poetry books to all the participants.
William Pais, Kishore Gonsalves and Averyl Rodrigues were the judges.
Former president of KNS Fr Vitus Prabhudas welcomed the gathering. Vitori Karkala compered the programme. Kavita Trust® president Melvyn Rodrigues announced the results and Andrew L D’Cunha proposed vote of thanks. General Secretary of KNS Sunil Menezes and vice-president Prem Lobo were present.
