Sullia, Sep 5: A Hajj pilgrim from the taluk died at King Abdul Aziz Hospital, Mecca, on the night of Friday September 2.
The ill-fated pilgrim has been identified as Abubakker (73), resident of Kumble in Kasargod district, who originally belonged to Aranthodu here.
It is gathered that before undertaking the Hajj pilgrimage, Abubakker had been put through dialysis and doctors as well as family members had prevailed upon him not to undertake this pilgrimage in view of his health condition. But Abubakker went ahead with the travel plan, duly expressing his wish to die when undertaking the pilgrimage.
Abubakker, who went on the pilgrimage with his wife, arrived at Medina on August 4 and stayed there for four days. He became ill thereafter. As such, he was admitted into King Abdul Aziz Hospital at Mecca by ambulance. Later, he had shown some improvement and discharged from the hospital. However, he had to be re-admitted into the same hospital as his health deteriorated. He died on Friday night.
