Bengaluru, Aug 23: Angered by the fact that his friend was not repaying Rs 27,000 borrowed by him, a man cut off the defaulter's skull and came to the police station with it. The incident occurred in Vishwanathapura police station in Devanahalli taluk of Bengaluru rural district.
The murdered man has been identified as Manjunath (26). He was killed by his friend, Shashikumar from Uganawadi. Shashikumar surrendered to the police later. The policemen said that Shashikumar happens to be the son of Narayanaswamy, member of Kannamangala gram panchayat.
Shashikumar and Manjunath were friends. Shashikumar had lent Rs 27,000 to Manjunath but there was fight between the two as Manjunath failed to repay the sum on time. Shashikumar, angry over his friend, used a sickle to cut off the skull of Manjunath in a deserted spot in Uganawadi village. He also brought the severed skull to the police station where he surrendered. The policemen thereafter went to the spot, and carried the torso and skull of Manjunath to the government hospital.
Manjunath is survived by aged parents, wife, and younger brother. His family happens to be very poor and has lost the only earning member.
