Kundapur, Aug 12: Shiriyara unit of Hindu Jagran Vedike observed Akhand Bharat Sankalp Diwas and torch procession at Shiriyara in the taluk on the night of Wednesday August 10. The progrmme was organized with the purpose of creating awareness among the people about the need to be patriotic.
Southern zone Pramukh of Hindu Jagran Vedike, Do Keshamurthy, who addressed the meeting organized in this connection at Achala hall in Hallady, Shiriyara, drew the attention of the gathering to the fact that those who fought and won freedom for the country are not being recognized and respected. He lamented the fact that instead of identifying and honouring patriots who fought and sacrificed for the nation and made it independent, those who were glorified in the name of struggle, and whose contribution was not significant, are being hailed.
He recollected that the tragic incidents which happened on the night of August 14 had marked it as the black day in the history of our country, and called upon the citizens to become united to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
Entrepreneur, Ganesh Kalmargi, presided over the function. HJV Pramukh Ratnakar Kota, HJV Saligrama president, Chandra Achar, entrepreneur, M K Ganesh Kalmargi etc were present.
The torch procession was taken out for a distance of two kilometres from Shiriyara town to Hallady with a participation of over 500 activists.
