Mangaluru, Jul 27: Billava Seva Sangha, Mangaladevi, organised Aatida Tirl Atilda Porlu at Kanthi Church hall, Mangaladevi on Sunday July 24.
In the early days, villagers prepared delicious food and various activities were conducted during the Aati (ashada) month. This event gave a glimpse of that. Traditional cultivation was part of the lifestyle of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.
The programme was inaugurated by symbolic planting of the paddy by Harish B Karkera, director and managing partner of Namma Kudla and V4 Media. The chief guest Dr Ganesh Ameen Sankamar elaborated on the importance of 'Aati and the traditions' by chanting Pardhana. Billava Mahila Ghataka prepared 65 varieties of food items which was the speciality of the programme. Shailendra Y Suvarna, proprietor SRS Industries presided over the fuction. Sathish Bolar president of Billava Sangha, Mangaladevi welcomed the gathering. Secretary Mohan Raj was the master of ceremony. Janardhan, the convenor of the programme presented the vote of thanks.
Special attraction:
Four year old boy, Janav Anand performed Aati Kadenja which was a major attraction. The cultural programme and 65 mouth watering, delicious items and the exhibhition of olden traditional household items were the special thrills.
