Bahrain: 'Amkam Xanti Di' Konkani Play on Nov 22

Bahrain, Nov 21: A KONKANI drama that focuses on the relationship between parents and their children once they have grown up will be staged tomorrow night at Hotel Sea Shell, Adliya.

Amkam Xanti Di (Give us Peace) has already met with success in Goa, Mangalore, Mumbai and other Konkani-speaking areas of India and is the latest offering from Goan director Mariano Fernandes.

The story explores whether children really reward their parents for their sacrifices once they have grown up and the play is being staged in Bahrain and Dubai as part of its Gulf tour.

It earned Mr Fernandes the Late Dr Jack Sequiera award for the Best Show of the Season in Goa and has already been performed over 70 times.

It will feature typical tiatr sideshows with song performances by solo, duet, trio and quartet performers, covering a range of subjects.

The director, along with a crew of 21 members consisting of actors, actresses, musicians, lights effects crew and the stage manager, will be flown in especially for the show that will start at 8.30pm.

The event will also feature comedy skits by some of Konkani stage's most prominent stars including Domnic Hoddo Bakru, Succurine and Luis Bachan.

The cast also includes Dolla, Luiza, Olga, Pradeep Naik, Francis de Tuem, Xavier Gomes, Marcus Vaz, the pair of Bab Andrew and Albert, Anil Pednekar, William, and Vitorino Araujo.

Tickets, priced at BD5 and BD4, are still available at World Greetings and Mangalore Store, Manama.

Free transport will be provided after the show to Isa Town, Sitra and Riffa.

The Bahrain show is organised by FFR Production and Bahrain Goans under the umbrella of the Folk Theatre.
