Kasargod, Jun 21: The thieves, who had stolen donation boxes from Korakodu Goddess Durgaparameshwari Mahakali Kalabhyraveshwara temple on the night of Saturday June 18, were found to have disposed off empty donation boxes by the side of book depot at the old bus stand here on Monday morning.
A knife stolen from the temple was also found along with the three donation boxes. A pair of trousers were found at the spot, which were taken away by the police for investigation. It is gathered that during the inspection of the temple, the finger print experts found three finger prints. The policemen are trying to match them with the finger prints of some earlier thieves.
On Saturday night, thieves had stolen three donation boxes from the said temple. The theft was noticed when a woman employee of the temple arrived on Sunday morning for cleaning duty.
The thieves had used an iron chair on the back side of the temple to scale the roof and entered inside by removing tiles. After the theft they escaped from the rear door, police found. The thieves however, could not enter the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.
