Mumbai, Oct 31: The success rate of films starring Akshay Kumar has been phenomenal this year.

He doesn’t like to brag about it, nor does he speak of himself as if he is the undisputed superstar of Bollywood. Akshay Kumar, the soft-talking macho man of Hindi film industry, is seen as the most bankable star after Shah Rukh Khan by Bollywood dream merchants.

Check this out: Akshay has had three releases this year and none of them was a flop. The year began on a good note for the star with Namastey London which Akshay pretty much carried on his sole shoulders. The film was liked by masses and critics alike and was a hit at home and abroad.

Akshay’s career reached a new crescendo with Sajid Khan’s Heyy Babyy , which proved to be a superhit at the box-office. Although the film had two other stars ( Fardeen Khan and Ritesh Deshmukh ) it was Akshay who stole the thunder with his superb comic timing.

And now, Akki’s last release Bhool Bhulaiyaa too has done remarkably well in India and in the UK as well.

The result of Akshay’s success rate has made him a safe bet for production houses. So much so, they are willing to shell out huge amounts of money to get Akshay into their projects.

Of late, three different production houses have been vying to rope in Akshay for their projects. But it is Venus Films that has reportedly clinched a plum deal with the actor.

Reports have it that the deal has been finalized for an astronomical sum of Rs. 41 crore. It is rumoured that Akshay has been signed for a whopping 20 crore for the film but he will actually be given somewhere close to 30 crore.

Apart from this, Akshay also has a 54 per cent partnership in the deal. This means that when the film is sold he might get close to Rs. 11 crore more. The total amount comes to Rs. 41 crore, which is more than the budgets of some big films in Bollywood.

But Venus Films is also making sure that they make profit out of this deal. They have reportedly signed none other than Priyadarshan to direct the film. The Akshay-Priyan combination has been deadly at the box-office.
