New Delhi, Oct 30: A road in the city was on Tuesday named after slain BJP leader Pramod Mahajan on his 59th birth anniversary.
The street connecting PVR multiplex in Saket and Mehrauli-Badarpur Road in south Delhi was dedicated by leader of opposition L K Advani at a function attended by Mahajan's widow Rekha.
Paying rich tributes to Mahajan, who was allegedly shot by his brother Pravin in April 2006, Advani said he was the "best man-manager" and that the void created by his absence was hard to fill in the current political scenario.
"Mahajan was the best man-manager we had. He had tremendous managerial abilities and we miss him now," he said.
"It was he who conceptualized the idea of Rath Yatra from Somnath to Ayodhya," he added.
Rekha Mahajan thanked the local authorities and said "she felt quite happy, honoured and a bit sad".
Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra said Mahajan was an "invincible soul" and lauded his efforts for bringing a "mobile renaissance" in the country during his tenure as Information and Broadcasting Minister during the NDA regime.
