Dubai, Sep 17: All Pangalites residing in the UAE celebrated Monthi Fest on 13th September 2007, at Richmond Hotel Apartments, Dubai in a homely atmosphere attended by more than 125 pangalites and friends.

The celebration began at 9.00 pm with a warm welcome by Joel Quadras, President of Emirates Pangalites followed by prayer and Gospel reading by Merlyn Castelino. Children showered flowers to mother Mary as the gathered sang “ Sokkod Sangatha Melyam ani Moreyek Hogolshiyam”.



As per the tradition back home two newly married daughters-in law of Pangla offered blessed corn to the elderly pangalites who were on visit to Dubai followed by distribution of novem and sweets.

Dolphy D’Mello, Treasurer of Emirates Pangalites gave a message on the importance and significance of Monthi fest in Pangla.



The whole gathering was divided into four groups and various group games, quiz, spot prizes were conducted. In between there were songs by children Jacqline, Jason, Kenis, Demitra and dance by Dalan D’Mello. House House was conducted after the meal. The Whole nights programme was conducted by the President Joel Quadras, assited by Clevin D’Souza and Ashwin D’Souza.



A traditional vegetarian meal prepared by Jacky’s Restaurant was served on banana leaves including Vorn and Pathrade.


The programme was concluded with the distribution of prizes and vote of thanks by the secretary Ashwin D’Souza.
