Kundapur, Jan 4: Five persons including four children were injured in an accident which occurred on national highway 66 at Kumbhashi near here on Sunday January 3. This accident occurred when a bus taking school children on educational tour collided with a pick-up truck.
Pick-up truck driver, Riaz from Kannukere in the taluk, suffered serious injuries in this accident. The four injured children were travelling by the school bus.
A bus in which children of a school in Ganagapura in Kalaburagi district that was on educational trip since January 1, which was moving to Malpe beach after visiting Murdeshwar on Sunday morning, hit the pick-up truck at Kumbhashi. The front wind shield of the bus was shattered, and the children sitting in the front seats were injured. Pick-up truck suffered maximum damage, and it stopped after jumping over the divider due to the impact of the collision.
The locals said that accidents have been occurring frequently because of speeding vehicles. They have asked police to set up barricades on the road. Many a time, vehicle riders get confused at diversions. The concerned should take steps meant to ensure safety of people, they stated.
