Greater Noida, Dec 22 (IANS): Vivo Mobile India, celebrating its first anniversary in the country, on Tuesday announced the commencement of its manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida township.
The unit will carer to the manufacturing and assembling of Vivo smartphones, creating more jobs and decreasing the company's dependence on imports, a top official of Vivo said.
"The commencement marks a significant moment for us. We understand the vast potential and fast growth of the smartphone market in India," said Alex Feng, chief executive of the company.
"We are dedicated to it with our efforts throughout the industry chain... we wish to make a solid step of Vivo India's localisation and realise our dream of Make in India."
Le Yucheng, Chinese Ambassador to India and Rama Raman, Noida chairman, were present on the occasion.
Vivo India has invested Rs.125 crore in the first phase at its 30,000 sq.m. facility which comprises several assembly lines, quality control lab and warehouses.
