Mangaluru, Nov 7: Days after the double murder inside the district jail here, five staff including the jail superintendent have been suspended.

In a gang war that erupted in the jail on November 2, two inmates - Madoor Isubu and his associate Ganesh Shetty, were killed, in what was termed by the police as pre-planned murder. Cases were registered against five and involvement of prison staff was also suspected.
It is learnt that on Friday November 6, orders were issued for the suspension of jail superintendent Obaleshappa, chief warder B M Navi, and three other wardens, named A Kolara, S S Talwar and J B Mulky Patil.
Confirming the suspension, ADGP (prisons) Kamal Pant told daijiworld that they were suspended on November 6 for lapse in duty.
Also, V Krishnamurthy has been appointed as the new jail superintendent, and Raghupati has been appointed as jailor, a post which was hitherto vacant.
