London, Jul 24: Raj Kundra, a UK-based NRI entrepreneur, on Monday refuted allegations of his ex-wife Kavita that Shilpa Shetty was instrumental in breaking his marriage and apologized to the Indian actress and her family for the "shocking allegations."
In a statement, Raj Kundra said: "My wife and I separated nine months ago and filed for divorce four months ago; we had agreed a mutual divorce. The reasons for the divorce are too personal for me to discuss and it would bring down my ex-wife and I do not wish to stoop down to her level as it is very degrading. At this time I had no association with Shilpa Shetty whatsoever."
Kundra said he was introduced to Shilpa three months ago by her manager Farhath Hussain with a proposal to launch a perfume with her. "Thus began my professional association with her.”
"My wife has made an accusation that Shilpa was the instrumental in breaking my marriage. It is untrue as I had no association with Shilpa at the time of our separation."
Kundra said his association with Shilpa was "purely professional" and they had become good friends over the past few months.
