Udupi, Oct 1: At the general body meeting of the city council held at Satyamurti auditorium here on Wednesday September 30, city municipal council member Prashant Amin raised his voice against CMC commissioner T Manjunathaiah.
Prashanth Amin condemned the disrespectful attitude of the commissioner regarding the DC's order and Malpe Beach Development committee. He alleged that the commissioner showed personal interest towards private business entrepreneurs in Malpe beach development instead of following the DC's order.
According to government law there ought to be 24 licensed street vendor shops at Malpe beach, but more than 50 shops operate without a license. A tender has also been called for to instal a food court on a three year lease of Rs 13, 86, 000.
Amin also said that Nemmadi Kendra officer, Arun Kumar has been publishing statements in the newspaper unlawfully on the plight of Malpe beach instead of DC’s statements being published.
The CMC members said that the central government fund must be distributed equally on priority basis. 14th Finance Commission is providing financial assistance of Rs 3.99 crore of which Rs 1 crore is to be utilized towards UGD road project and has been released from the center.
President Yuvaraj said, "It is a very tough job to distribute funds equally to all 35 wards, but they will discuss sharing of funds on priority basis with the DC."
Naveen Bhandary complained that medical waste from one of the veterinary clinics is dumped into a nearby temple Mahishamardini located near Chitpady. The commissioner promised that he will take immediate action against that particular hospital.
Opposition party members ordered the commissioner to provide sanctioned fund details of Mannapalla lake development committee.
He further said that the committee has not conducted a single meeting for members so far.
Yashpal Suvarna said, "The CMC has to be focused on tackling public problems."
Ramesh Kanchan, senior opposition leader M R Pai and Dinakar Shetty were absent at the meeting.
CMC vice president Amrith Shenoy was present at the meeting.
