Police raid Gantalkatte slaughterhouse - seize beef, other items

Moodbidri, Sep 14: A team of policemen from the town station here raided an illegal slaughterhouse functioning at Neeralike, Gantalkatte within Kallabettu village near here on Saturday September 12. The raiding party, which was led by police circle inspector, Anantapadmanabha, seized 91 kg beef, a motor bike, machetes and other items used for preparing beef.

Main accused, Mansoor, and his brothers, Shaukat Ali and Sadiq, succeeded in fleeing.

The police personnel were tipped off about the operation of an illegal slaughterhouse at the residence of Mansoor from Darkhas House, Neeralike, where animals were being slaughtered without obtaining any permission. The slaughterhouse was found to be operational in a building located backside of Mansoor's house, which was found locked from the front. Cows were being slaughtered there for beef, policemen found.

The police personnel took into possession a motor bike, one and two kg plastic sachets packed with beef, beef kept in a bucket, two machetes used for cutting of beef, four knives, a weighing scale, weighing stones, hooks used for hanging beef, skulls of animals and other wastes, plastic buckets, alluminium utensils, and a wooden block. The value of items seized has been estimated to be Rs 43,500.
