Frankfurt, Sep 3 (IANS): Arsenal striker Mesut Ozil believes he needs to become selfish and be more ruthless in front of the goal if he is to achieve his ambition of scoring more goals in the English Premier League (EPL).
The Germany World Cup 2014 winner scored just five times in 32 games for Arsenal last season and has been challenged by Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger to reach double figures this time around. The former Real Madrid playmaker admits he needs to be more ruthless in front of the goal if he is to gain personal recognition.
"I have to become more dangerous in front of the goal. I was injured for long spells last season, and scored only five in 32 competitive games. I want to improve this. To achieve it, I have to be a bit more egotistical," Ozil was quoted as saying by goal.com on Wednesday.
Ozil missed Arsenal's victory over Newcastle United last weekend with a minor knee injury but has been included as part of Joachim Low’s Germany squad ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifiers against Poland and Scotland.
