New York, Sep 2 (IANS): Second seed Roger Federer cruised past Leonardo Mayer of Argentina 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 to enter the men's singles second round of the US Open here.
Federer, 17-time Grand Slam champion, won 84 percent of his first serve points and six of nine breakpoint opportunities on Tuesday, reports Xinhua.
"I was better prepared here this time around. I feel good now. I actually wasn't so confident yesterday and today. I just felt like maybe could be one of those matches I just couldn't see it coming. So thankfully I took this match extremely seriously. I thought at times almost I was taking it a bit too serious," Federer said.
