Madrid, Aug 10 (IANS): Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic and American icon Serena Williams on Monday maintained their places at the top of the men's and women's singles rankings respectively.
Reigning Wimbledon and Australian Open champion Djokovic has 13,755 points that puts him at top of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings. The 28-year-old was followed by Swiss legend Roger Federer with 9,065, reports EFE.
This week's big change in the top 10 was made by Japan's Kei Nishikori, who jumped to fourth place after his victory against American John Isner in the Washington Open final.
Meanwhile, Spain's David Ferrer and Rafael Nadal maintained their seventh and ninth positions, respectively.
In the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, Serena, holder of the all the Major titles at the moment, has 12,371 points.
The 33-year-old 21-time Major singles title winner stands far ahead of her closest competitor, Maria Sharapova, who is in second place with 6,386 points.
Czech Lucie Safarova went up from eighth to seventh place, while her compatriot Karolina Pliskova jumped from 12th to eighth place.
Spain's Garbine Muguruza is in ninth place with 3,315 points, followed by her compatriot Carla Suarez in 10th, with 3,195.
