Hunt wins high diving gold at Worlds


Kazan (Russia), Aug 5 (IANS): Briton Gary Hunt clinched the gold medal of high diving at the World Aquatics Championships here on Wednesday.

Hunt, who won silver two years ago, held on to his lead from the first three rounds on Monday to win the title with a total score of 629.30, reports Xinhua.

The silver went to Mexican Jonathan Paredes on 596.45 while Russian Artyom Silchenko took third to please the home crowd.

David Colturi of the Unites States was in second place after Monday's first three rounds but slipped to fourth. He attempted the most difficult dive of the 12 finalists in the last round only to land awkwardly and finished seven points behind Silchenko.
