Chennai, Jun 30: Actress Gauthami who has acted in several films opposite Kamal Haasan and has been living with him for the past decade will be seen playing the role of his wife in their upcoming film Papanasam.
All set to be released in two days time, the movie is a remake of the Malyalam hit movie, Drishyam that was directed by Jeethu Joseph. Speaking to press persons, Kamal Haasan praised Gauthami's work in Papanasam, saying, “I am capable of decrying my bad performance fearlessly and supporting good ones shamelessly. So it would be unjust to laud Gautami’s performance. She has done very well and has grown in understanding of her craft better in absentia. I think the distance and years have helped her get a vantage view."
Kamal also spoke up when questions were raised upon the poster of the movie that had a picture of him along with his onscreen family atop a motorcycle without a helmet. Kamal said “Please wear a helmet while riding a two-wheeler. The argument usually is that we actors don’t wear helmet in the movies. The stunts performed on a pipe at a circus cannot be performed on the pipes at home,”
The popular onscreen couple will sharing a frame after nearly two decades. The last film they did together was Nammavar that released on the 4th of November 1995. They moved in together in 2005 and now live together with their three daughters Shruti Haasan, Akshara Haasan and Gauthami's daughter from a previous marriage, Subbalakshmi.
