Milan, June 30 (IANS): Brazilian footballer Joao Miranda, still technically a player for Atletico Madrid, was here on Tuesday to undergo his medical examination after his transfer to Inter Milan was confirmed.
The centre back would sign the contract after the medical examination. Miranda is expected to sign with Inter until 2018 with a possible extension until 2019. Reports claimed that Atletico Madrid will receive 15 million euros for the transfer, reports Efe.
The defender was playing with his national team in Copa America in Chile where they were ousted in the quarter-finals.
Miranda's contract lasts until 2016 with Atletico where he arrived from Sao Paolo four seasons ago and played 178 matches, scoring 12 goals.
Miranda will turn 31 on September 7 and in his time with Atletico won La Liga in 2013-14, the Spanish SuperCup in 2014, the Europa League in the 2011-12 season, and the European SuperCup in 2012, as well as being Champions League runners-up in Lisbon in 2014, all under Argentinian coach Diego Simeone.
