Mumbai, Jun 30: The key witness in the blackbuck case registered against Bollywood actor Salman Khan, was today represented by his son in court, who pleaded 'mental illness' for his father.
Chogaram (65) today, was not in court to testify against actor Salman Khan but his son approached the court with the plea to drop his father's name from the list of witnesses for the case, as he might not be able to attend court to testify. The court ordered Chogaram's son to submit complete medical reports of his father's ill health.
The case had been registered against Salman Khan way back in 1998, when the actor had been reported to be party to the hunting down of two blackbucks at Kankani. Mahipal Bishnoi, one of the prosecution counsels told media persons, "Since the court has sought a detailed medical report on the health status of Chogaram, we would wait for the report before proceeding further."
Chogaram is an eye witness in two legal cases against the actor both the poaching of the blackbucks as well as possession of arms acts. Two other eye-witness who are Sagar Ram and Forest officer Lalit Boda too have not appeared before the court and have been duly warned by the court in this regard.
