Childline rescues woman, children, deserted by husband

Mangaluru, Jun 23: Mangaluru Childline - 1098 has rescued and rehabilitated a woman and her two children, who had been driven out of their home. These three were spending time in KSRTC bus stand in the city since the last four days.

Renukamma (30) from Ukkudakere in Hosapete taluk of Ballari district, and her two sons aged seven and two, had been deserted by her husband sometime back. She was sheltered at the home of her in-laws thereafter.

However, as a result of family squabble on minor differences at the house of her in-laws a few days back, the family members had expelled her with children at night. With no idea what to do next, Renukamma boarded a bus to Mangaluru and was found in KSRTC bus stand with no money to buy food or go back to her district.

Supreeta of Vamanjoor Dharmajyoti social service organization, Sampath Shetty and Asunta D'Souza of Mangaluru Helpline rescued the mother and children from KSRTC bus stand and provided rehabilitation to them, a release from the Childline said.
