Mangaluru, June 11: “Karnataka Health Department has used the Hindu god 'Narasimha's picture in the TB control poster which is a big blunder and government should immediately withdraw this. Karnataka government has insulted the Hindus. Health minister UT Khadar is responsible for this. He should immediately apologise for this and withdraw the printed posters”, said Ram Sena chief, Pramod Muthalik.
He was addressing the press meet at Aryasamaj Bhavan here on Thursday June 11.
Referring to IPC section 295, he said, “No one has the right to insult another faith. Dr Nadeem Ahammed is the officer to control the TB and it is his strategy to use Hindu god. This is a blunder. These types of insults to Hindu gods have begun after the Siddaramaiah government assumed the power in state. Attack on Hindu community, religious scriptures, gods and saints have been continuing. And this act of portraying the 'Narasimhas’ in TB control poster is a blunder”.
Muthalik also said, “The minority commission of Karnataka has portrayed that 'minority means only Muslims'and other minority communities which include Christians, Buddhists, Sikh, Jains and Parsi have been neglected. Today, the minority commission understands only Muslims to be a minority community".
"The minorities commission receives Rs 1,000 crore grant and 99% of the grant has been given only to Muslim community. The minorities commission was formed 1983 with the intention of development of six communities. From 1983 to 2015, there were 16 presidents all from Muslim community".
“In the office of the minority commission, we can find the handouts printed in the Urdu language. The letter head is also printed in Urdu, Kannada and English. Why the other five communities are neglected by the commission? The commission was formed for the protection of all these six communities. Article 14 and 16(1) in Constitution states equal rights to everyone and why this discrimination? This is a violation of the Constitution”, he added.
He also said that he would meet CM Siddaramaiah in coming Belgavi session along with five other community representatives and submit the memorandum.
He further said that even in the benefits of minorities, corporation and commission reach only to Muslims. The information on RTI was denied. The facility or the power for minorities should be equally distributed among the communities.
When the media said that in the district cases of death due to TB have been reported and portrait has been printed as part of the awareness drive and asked him how he was going to write to the director of the commission about this, he said, “It came to my notice yesterday, and I called the press meet in Mangaluru. The health department has committed a blunder by using only the Hindu god. Why only Hindu god has been used? Why not other communities? Hindus have been provoked by this. This type of attitude is not good. We accept the country as secular and why only Hindu gods have targeted? This attitude is because the Hindu Samaj is silent”.
Commenting on UT Khadar’s statement that SDPI received funds from BJP, Muthalik said, “SDPI is a political party. BJP has to answer this. This is a serious allegation. I don't know why they are silent? SDPI is political party and party of Muslims. There are 32 corporators in Karnataka in the SDPI party. It is a serious allegation”.
On the withdrawal of cases against PFI and KFD, he said that government should stop this. “Both KFD and PFI have links with banned SIMI and this not Muthalik's statement but Kerala Chief minister Oommen Chandy himself has written about this to the home minister, terming that PFI has terrorists link and it should be banned. He has also submitted the affidavit to High Court about the link of these parties with SIMI and Al Quaida. If Karnataka government is withdrawing cases of PFI and KFD, it seems as if the Karnataka government is encouraging terrorism”.

Mangaluru, Jun 11: "Yoga is not related to any religion or caste. World yoga day is organised by United Nations, a world organisation and not by Indian government alone. Ram sene supports world yoga day." said Pramod Muthalik, the chief of Rashtriya Hindu Sena, the parent organisation of the Sri Ram Sena, in Mangaluru on Thursday, June 11.
Muthalik was in city to attend court hearing at JMFC 2 court related to the infamous 2009 pub attack. Out of the 30 persons charged, only 13 attended the hearing. The court adjourned the the proceedings to July 29. Pramod Muthalik was speaking after attending the court.
"Removal of Suryanamaskara and omkara from World yoga day by the Indian government is not right just because the Muslim community opposed it. Those who oppose it are fools. The central government committed foolishness by removing Suryanamaskara and omkara. I strongly oppose this. Yoga should be seen in health perspective and not based on religion." Muthalik added.
World yoga day is observed on June 21.
Speaking about the cases withdrawn against PFI and KFD, Muthalik said, "Even I have been charged in the Mysuru case. Why do the courts exist if police and politicians withdraw the cases? Kerala chief minister Oommen chandy has written a letter to the central government that PFI and KFD are Simi organisations which need to be banned. I am going to file a public interest litigation regarding the withdrawal of these cases."
