Los Angeles, April 24 (IANS): Singer Lady Gaga will be honoured with the Contemporary Icon Award which is given to an artist "who has attained an iconic status in pop culture".
The singer is set to receive the first ever Contemporary Icon Award at the 46th annual Songwriters Hall of Fame event taking place on June 19 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Manhattan.
Hall Of Fame President and CEO Linda Moran says the "Applause" singer inspired the award, reports aceshowbiz.com.
"It could be said that this honour was created with Lady Gaga in mind. She has enjoyed monumental popularity on the charts, on radio, TV and the Internet, not to mention the continuous press coverage she has generated," Moran said in a statement.
In addition to singing, Gaga wrote some of her most iconic hits, including "Poker face", "Just dance" and "Applause".
