Mangaluru, Apr 13: Sandhya Creations after the success of its maiden venture 'Nirel' wanted to venture into another project again in Tulu. So when the script of 'Dhand' got ready, it required a versatile actor who would be a young comedian blending into serious as well as comic romantic role. Director Ranjith Bajpe and producer Shodhan Prasad selected Sandeep Shetty for the said role, which proved to be the perfect decision.
'Kusalda Birse' Sandeep Shetty Manibettu has not only made a household name in South Kanara and Udupi districts but has spread his popularity across Karnataka state and into Gulf states where his fans eager wait to see his comedy act again and again.
Born on July 23 at Manibettu, Sandeep who holds BBM, MBA degrees, is the son of Sunder Shetty and Rathna Shetty. Sandeep started his acting career in 1998, by writing and directing a Tulu drama titled 'Nathuna Paru'. Since then he never turned back and made acting his first love and has performed in many dramas and movies.
He has a large fan base, with nearly 10,000 Facebook members in his three different fan pages. This shows the popularity of 'Kusalda Birse' Sandeep Shetty Manibettu. His stage shows, standup comedy and dramas have lacs of YouTube hits.
Winning 'Bale Telipale' contest in a local TV channel for three consecutive years brought Sandeep overnight success and exposure. He has performed for more than 1000 stage shows in various places including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune and also international locations like Muscat, Dubai, Kuwait and Bahrain. He was awarded 'Kusalda Birse' in Mumbai Kalabhimanigalu and 'Janamechida Hasya Nata' award in Puttur drama competition.
Having tasted success in many TV shows and dramas, Sandeep forayed into cinema, acting in Tulu movies like 'Madime', 'Telikeda Bolli' and 'Ekka Saka'.
'Dhand' is an upcoming Tulu movie by Sandhya Creations, produced by Shodhan Prasad and directed by Ranjith Bajpe with Arjun Kapikad playing the protagonist, and starring Sandeep Shetty, 'Nirel' fame Anoop Sagar and Deepak Paladka supported by Gopinath Bhat, Umesh Mijar, Ranjan Boloor, Shilpa Suvarna, Anvita Sagar, Nidhi Maroli who are playing major roles in the movie along with other actors.
Sandeep is expected to go miles once 'Dhand' is released all over.
