Mangaluru: Venkatesh Prasanna attends anti-terrorism training programme in US

Mangaluru, Apr 11: Venkatesh Prasanna, formerly the CCB inspector of Mangaluru and presently serving as DySP in IGP (western range) office, was recently in the United States to attend a Seaport Security Anti-terrorism Training Programme (SSATP) in Charleston.

He was among 22 senior police officers from around the world and the only one from Karnataka police department to be selected for this training programme.

Prasanna, known for his upright approach to dealing with terrorism and maintaining law and order, was recommended by the union government to attend the programme, considering his impressive record in tackling crime and implementing various techniques in solving cases.

Altogether, 7 police officers including Prasanna were chosen to represent India.

The training programme was held under the guidance of senior officers of US Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, which trains the American army and the police department.

The programme dealt with various topics such as maritime terrorism, counter-measures and techonology familiarization, seaport operations, maritime piracy and crimes and so on.

    George Bush is a gentleman who made a lot efforts to wipe out terrorism. when he took so much efforts to terrorism how he will be terrorist????? maybe terrorist dint found any way to take revenge on him. May be terrorist and terrorism supporters spreded false blog/news/ roomer to make him guilty.

    This is a step in right direction.
    Frequent trainings are in various fields are absolutely necessary. India need to send 100's of qualified officers to get trained under experts in Combating terrorism, learn technique and skills. when they return they should pass on the skills and train young officers. There should be frequent trainings for a longer period. Just few days of training insufficient.

    It is encouraging news that Venkatesh Prasanna has been chosen to attend the anti-terrorism program in U.S. I join several others in stating that the choice has fallen on the right person. From Mr. Prassana's records and past history it is expedient that he will do a good job and return to India fortified with his knowledge combating terrorism.
