Mangaluru, Apr 11: Venkatesh Prasanna, formerly the CCB inspector of Mangaluru and presently serving as DySP in IGP (western range) office, was recently in the United States to attend a Seaport Security Anti-terrorism Training Programme (SSATP) in Charleston.
He was among 22 senior police officers from around the world and the only one from Karnataka police department to be selected for this training programme.
Prasanna, known for his upright approach to dealing with terrorism and maintaining law and order, was recommended by the union government to attend the programme, considering his impressive record in tackling crime and implementing various techniques in solving cases.
Altogether, 7 police officers including Prasanna were chosen to represent India.
The training programme was held under the guidance of senior officers of US Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, which trains the American army and the police department.
The programme dealt with various topics such as maritime terrorism, counter-measures and techonology familiarization, seaport operations, maritime piracy and crimes and so on.
