Mangaluru: District level seminar on 'reason for death' inaugurated at Wenlock Hospital

Mangaluru, February 27: District level seminar on 'reason for death' was inaugurated by doctors at RPCC Hall, Wenlock Hospital here on February 27.







Wenlock District Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Rajeshwari Devi said,” This seminar will give adequate information to the doctors, which will help them while they look for details on reason for death. In most of the death certificates, doctors specify reasons for death as cardio esto failure. Reason of death should be specified according to the death code. But doctors have confusion regarding the code to be mentioned. The seminar on this topic was very essential. Doctors should always give correct reasons and the seminar will help them in this regard.

Dr Rukmini reproductive and child health officer Wenlock Hospital said, ” When cause of death is not mentioned properly it is very difficult to handle the situation. In my personal experience there are two main problems maternal death and infant death. Multi organ disfunction syndrome is written  in most of the cases. This seminar will help to get more information on cause of death and will help them to prepare their report.” 

Maralu Siddappa assistant director census department government of Karnataka said, "In most of the cases reason for death is not properly specified. If the deceased is above 50 years the reason is heart attack. This creates problems in preparing rhe report which is to be submitted to the government. The government schemes on various diseases will be affected because of wrong data. If doctors spare 2 minutes they can give a correct reason.

Dr Pradeep D'souza, district statistical officer and  Dr Ramesh Kunder, medico legal consultant and resource person of the seminar were present at the event.
